David Wallace Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 1960, David Wallace is a New York lawyer who for more than three decades has explored the expressive possibilities of documentary, nude, landscape, and portrait photography. His images are printed in the darkroom by hand. I've always been intrigued by the subtle abstraction and emotional language of black-and-white photography, playing off the fact our visual experience is otherwise color. I like the irony, black being the queen of all colors. I don't have an artistic statement as such. For me, it's about capturing the clarity and luminosity of fleeting moments with black-and-white photography, which you don't so much look at as you do read. In Words and Pictures, I used the medium to create a visual journal -- mixing words and pictures in a documentary style. Mr. Wallace lives in Tenafly, New Jersey.
